HPS™- Purifiers for Laboratory Gas Generators

Helium prices are rising rapidly, and you may be considering changing to hydrogen as your carrier gas. Maybe, you should be considering a laboratory hydrogen generator with a Hy9 HPS™ palladium purifier. Produce your own supply of carrier gas with a purity greater than 99.9999%. Only generators with palladium purifiers can do this. Hy9’s HPS series of purifiers for laboratory gas generators enable electrolysis manufacturers to integrate and provide their customers a zero maintenance low cost high purity solution for generating hydrogen. The use of HPS purifiers gives customers the assurance that they are consistently and reliably receiving hydrogen for their gas chromatography and flame ionization detectors greater than 99.9999% purity.

The HPS purifiers reliable performance, compelling capabilities and low cost has been proven in the field over ten years with over 1,000 purifiers in continual use at customers’ facilities, accumulating more than approximately 3 million hours of field operation.

Our palladium membrane purifiers provide economic, durable and reliable high purity hydrogen which removes the hassles of drying/changing out of lower purity desiccate cartridges. At $140 per cartridge, it doesn't take too many cartridge changes to make the change to HPS purifiers worthwhile. The Hy9 HPS purifiers are scalable, and designed to meet flow rates from 300 cc per minute of hydrogen, to 5000 cc per minute.

The economics of our systems are very compelling for our customers, especially at smaller flow rates, due to the design and approach to manufacturing. The membrane in Hy9’s membrane purifiers is a planar palladium alloy metal membrane that separates hydrogen from hydrogen containing gas mixtures by permeation of hydrogen. Hy9’s method for producing thin palladium alloy membranes has improved the hydrogen productivity per unit of palladium contained in such membranes by a factor of 50 or more compared to the conventional palladium membranes. Exploiting this method is essential for widespread commercialization of economical purifiers and membrane reactors.

Over the last ten years HPS purifiers have had a cumulative run time over 3 million hours under thousands of cycles without requiring any purging, and can even withstand reverse pressurizations. We are now leveraging these invaluable years of commercial experiences and a decade of R&D to uniquely position Hy9 to provide enabling solutions to industrial hydrogen users/suppliers and fuel cell companies.

Purifiers for Industrial Gas Applications

Hy9 provides individual and packaged purifiers for industrial gas customers to integrate into their processes that require high purity hydrogen on demand. This includes integrating Hy9’s purifiers into systems that analyze gas streams in refineries, upgrading the purity of stored gas in semiconductor manufacturing and vehicle refueling applications, and purifying recycled hydrogen gas streams in industrial operations. Hy9 offers industrial gas customers three choices:

HyPurifier ™– The HyPurifier is available to meet flow requirements from 300 to 1200 cc per minute of hydrogen, depending on specific flow characteristics. See the information on the HyPurifer ™above.

Packaged Purifiers – Hy9 offers packaged purifiers configured for wall mounting, including enclosures, pressure control valves, and electrical connections and controls. These standalone purifier systems are available in capacity ranges from 300 to 1200 cc per minute of hydrogen flux.
